NPP MP Disputes Mahama's Characterization of Prior Economic Management
Osei referenced Bank of Ghana records showing reserves increased from 8.78 tonnes in May 2023 to 30.53 tonnes by December 2024 under the Akufo-Addo government.
In a verified social media statement, Osei noted the current administration added 2.46 tonnes to reserves during its first six months in office. “This progression merits acknowledgment rather than condemnation,” the legislator stated, questioning the fairness of Mahama’s “criminally mismanaged” characterization during recent policy addresses.
Osei further queried the proportion of gold reserves maintained versus international sales under the current National Democratic Congress administration. The remarks reference ongoing parliamentary debates about economic stewardship within Ghana’s constitutional governance framework.
