Saturday, June 28, 2025
The South American Chamber of Entrepreneurs is launching a bold initiative aimed at promoting tourism corridors that will link destinations from the Caribbean all the way to Argentine Patagonia. This visionary project seeks to boost regional tourism, opening up new opportunities for travelers to explore Venezuela’s natural beauty and the surrounding landscapes of South America. Pedro Rodríguez, spokesperson for the Chamber, revealed these plans in an exclusive interview, underscoring the potential for economic growth through enhanced tourism across the region.
The goal of this initiative is to make it easier for international travelers, particularly those from the Caribbean and beyond, to access Venezuela’s most stunning natural attractions, such as pristine beaches and unique hot springs. With an emphasis on connectivity and regional cooperation, the South American Chamber of Entrepreneurs aims to make the entire region—from Venezuela’s coast to Argentina’s southernmost reaches—more accessible to visitors from all over the world.
Rodríguez highlighted the immense tourism potential of Venezuela, especially the state of Sucre, which offers over 750 kilometers of untouched beaches. “We have many advantages to provide security on all the wonderful beaches we have in the country, as well as the hot springs in several locations in the state of Sucre,” Rodríguez shared. Sucre is a vital part of this tourism corridor initiative due to its rich coastal offerings and its development in both the fishing and tourism industries.
The state also boasts three international ports—Carúpano, Cumaná, and Güiria—which provide vital access points for travelers coming from around the world. Rodríguez emphasized that these ports, along with several international airports, are essential in promoting Venezuela as a desirable tourism destination, creating a seamless experience for international visitors. He believes these infrastructures will play a key role in boosting regional tourism, especially as the country builds stronger ties with neighboring South American nations.
Venezuela’s vast natural beauty, ranging from its beaches to the stunning mountains and rivers, will be key selling points for this tourism initiative. The project aims to create accessible, well-connected travel routes that allow travelers to move smoothly across borders, enhancing regional cooperation and encouraging more international tourists to explore Venezuela’s hidden gems.
One of the central elements of this project is creating tourism corridors that link Venezuela with other South American nations. By fostering strong regional partnerships, the South American Chamber of Entrepreneurs hopes to create a connected network that allows for easy travel and exploration throughout the continent. Through collaboration with tourism bodies and businesses across the region, the Chamber plans to promote not only Venezuela’s landscapes but also the rich cultural and historical offerings that South America has to share.
“We have correspondents in each of the countries in the region, and through communication, we ensure that those nations with whom we are already connected show us their export capacity to Venezuela,” Rodríguez explained. This approach underscores the interconnectedness of the tourism industry in South America, aiming to make travel between countries seamless and mutually beneficial.
Additionally, the Chamber seeks to enhance the tourism experience by focusing on sustainable practices, ensuring that future generations of travelers can continue to enjoy the rich cultural and natural landscapes that South America offers. Sustainable tourism will be a core part of the tourism corridor strategy, balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.
Sucre, with its diverse natural attractions, will be a major focus of the Chamber’s efforts. The state’s infrastructure—comprising international airports, ports, and various tourism facilities—makes it a prime destination for visitors. The state’s hot springs, which are becoming increasingly popular for their therapeutic properties, are another major attraction for travelers seeking wellness tourism.
The tourism corridors initiative will work to capitalize on Sucre’s geographic advantages, drawing both regional and international tourists. By promoting the natural beauty of Sucre and its easy accessibility through air and sea routes, the project aims to position the state as a key hub in the growing tourism corridor that spans the entire continent.
Venezuela’s tourism infrastructure is steadily improving, and this initiative aligns with ongoing government efforts to enhance the country’s international reputation. The South American Chamber of Entrepreneurs is keen to align with national programs, including the “Country Brand” initiative, which is focused on reshaping Venezuela’s global image and boosting its attractiveness as a tourism destination.
Rodríguez also emphasized the role of the Venezuelan government in supporting this initiative. The South American Chamber of Entrepreneurs has been actively participating in national events and collaborating with government bodies such as the Ministry of Industry and the Country Brand program. These partnerships are designed to promote Venezuela’s tourism assets on both a regional and global scale.
“The signing of the memorandum between the Korean Tourism Organization and the Philippine Travel Agencies Association is more than just a formal agreement. It is a celebration of shared vision, mutual respect, and a strong partnership rooted in our passion for tourism and cultural exchange,” said PTAA Vice President Dominic Castillejos. This type of international collaboration is also essential in promoting Venezuela as a regional tourism destination.
By leveraging the support of both the business and governmental sectors, the South American Chamber of Entrepreneurs is working to create an ecosystem where tourism, culture, and commerce can thrive together. The goal is not just to bring more tourists to Venezuela but to foster a sustainable, cooperative regional network that benefits all South American nations.
The tourism corridor initiative is just the beginning of a broader effort to boost South American tourism as a whole. While challenges remain—such as improving infrastructure and addressing safety concerns—the Chamber’s vision for a well-connected, collaborative tourism network is gaining traction. Through this regional tourism corridor, South American nations will be able to strengthen economic ties, attract more visitors, and promote cultural exchange in ways that benefit all countries involved.
