Nigerian Police Arrest Man For Clubbing Mother To Death ln Bauchi State

The incident happened at the Abujan Kwata area in Bauchi metropolis according a resident of the area.

A 20-year old Nigerian man, Safiyanu Dalhatu, has allegedly clubbed his mother to death in Bauchi State.

Dalhatu, reportedly hit his mother Salama Abdullahi with a pestle, resulting in multiple fractures before she died. 

The incident happened at the Abujan Kwata area in Bauchi metropolis according a resident of the area.

A witness, Walid Musa told SaharaReporters that "he hit his mother with a pestle and she died shortly thereafter."

The spokesperson for the police in Bauchi State, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil has confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.

Wakil noted that Dalhatu had been arrested and the weapon used recovered. 

He said, "The incident occurred on February 24, 2025 around 3:00 pm, when members of the Peace and Security Committee in the area reported the matter to the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters.

"After receiving the report, Divisional Police Officer CSP Abdullahi Muazu led a team of detectives to the scene and rushed the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for medical attention.

"Unfortunately, she was later confirmed dead by a medical professional.

“The suspect has been arrested, and the pestle used in the attack has been recovered as evidence,” Wakil stated.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, had ordered a thorough investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
