2. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Thursday sign into law four historic tax reform bills set to overhaul Nigeria’s fiscal landscape, streamline tax administration, and boost investor confidence. The four bills — the Nigeria Tax Bill, Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill — were recently passed by the National Assembly following extensive stakeholder consultations and technical reviews.

3. A devastating bomb explosion rocked Ubeheze market in Awo Idemili, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, on Tuesday, leaving at least five people dead and several others wounded. The explosion occurred around 11 am when traders were opening their stores. Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific with dead bodies littering the ground and wounded individuals lying in pools of blood.

4. 8. No fewer than 20 soldiers were reportedly killed by bandits who stormed two military camps in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State on Tuesday while several others were injured. However, an unspecified number of the bandits were gunned down by the soldiers during the gun battle that ensued.

9. The naira on Wednesday appreciated to N1,590 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,595 per dollar on Tuesday. Similarly, the Naira appreciated to N1,549 per dollar in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM).

10. The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has officially declared Thursday, June 26, 2025, as the first day of Muharram, marking the start of the Islamic New Year 1447 AH, after the crescent moon was sighted on the evening of Wednesday, Dhul Hijjah 29. The Supreme Court announced the decision after the Crescent Sighting Committee verified credible testimonies confirming the moon’s sighting.
