Dambai (O/R), May 23, GNA – Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Alhaji Yusif Sulemana has charged the newly reconstituted board of the Oti Region Lands Commission to ensure efficient land administration in the region.
The 16-member board, inaugurated at Dambai in the Oti Region, is chaired by Krachiwura Nana Mprah Besemuna, Paramount Chief of the Krachi Traditional Area.
At the inauguration, Alhaji Sulemana underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing land management.
The board has been tasked with implementing an effective land administration system, reducing land registration time to 30 working days, and preventing the unlawful conversion of stool and family lands.
The Deputy Minister emphasised the critical role of effective land management in national development, highlighting its impact on economic growth, social stability, and environmental sustainability.
Nana Mprah Besemuna, the Board chairman, pledged to work collaboratively with fellow members to tackle pressing land issues and create a transparent and accessible land administration system.
Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, also urged the board to be diligent in their duties.
The board’s inauguration is expected to address land disputes and inefficient land management practices that have hindered development in the region.
With the Oti Region rich in natural resources, effective land administration is seen as key to unlocking its economic potential.
