The series is called The Survivors, and has become the latest Netflix series to be hailed as one of the best of the year in its genre by many. Eight critics have reviewed the series, and all of them have lauded the drama, but also caution that it will probably not leave you feeling particularly cheerful even after its story is resolved.

For those who have been enthralled by the likes of Adolescence, Secrets We Keep, and other unexpected hit dramas, The Survivors is exactly the kind of show that you should be watching if you haven’t already.

Critics have heaped praise on the series as “an arresting mystery-drama that will leave you on edge” (LeisureByte.com), and one that “makes viewers feel what the characters are feeling.” (Tell-Tale TV). As described by The Guardian’s Lucy Mangan, “The Survivors is a study in how raw grief and festering resentment warp everything – and how surviving a tragedy rarely means getting away unscathed.”

Audiences have not given The Survivors the same perfect score, but it still holds a strong 79% rating. Several have claimed they “could not stop watching” the show and binged the entire thing in one or two sittings. Others have noted that, unlike many mystery shows, The Survivors’ ending is “completely satisfying” and everyone should “do yourself a favor and watch it.”

At the time of writing, The Survivors is sitting at number two on the global Netflix streaming chart, behind the long-standing popular show Ginny & Georgia, and is holding third place on the domestic chart as comedy series Tyres is at number two in the U.S. However, with the show gaining strong momentum and word of mouth, there is every chance it could peak at the top on both charts very soon.
