NBA Rumors: Jazz, Jordan Clarkson, Celtics, Georges Niang, Timberwolves

Published 15 hours ago3 minute read

The Jazz are continuing to shop veteran guard Jordan Clarkson, but interest has been minimal, according to Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune. In fact, Larsen describes the current trade market for Clarkson as having “next to no interest.”

Clarkson, 32, appeared in a career-low 37 games this past season, sidelined late by plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He averaged 16.2 points and 3.7 assists in 26.0 minutes per game off the bench, but has struggled with consistency since winning Sixth Man of the Year in 2021.

Utah signed Clarkson to an extension in 2023 with the idea of flipping him later, but that plan appears to have hit a wall.

Meanwhile, the Jazz are also exploring trade possibilities for forward John Collins, who had a strong bounce-back season — 19.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 39.9% from deep — but may not fit with Utah’s long-term plans. With Taylor Hendricks and Kyle Filipowski needing developmental minutes, Larsen considers it unlikely that either Clarkson or Collins will be on the opening night roster.

The Jazz already moved guard Collin Sexton to Charlotte for center Jusuf Nurkic, further signaling a youth movement and possible pivot toward the 2026 draft.

Celtics Could Still Make Moves After Holiday, Porzingis Trades

The Celtics have already made major waves by agreeing to trade Jrue Holiday to Portland and Kristaps Porzingis to Atlanta, but their work may not be done.

With Jayson Tatum recovering from an Achilles injury, the Celtics are still believed to be exploring ways to trim salary and add flexibility. Anfernee Simons, Georges Niang, and Sam Hauser are among those being floated in trade talks.

There’s also been some buzz around Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, though VP of basketball operations Mike Zarren reportedly told teams that Boston hasn’t come close to dealing either. According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, at least one rival team was told it would take a “Mikal Bridges-type package” to pry White away.

Meanwhile, veteran big man Al Horford is expected to take his time in free agency, per the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach. The Celtics are reportedly interested in re-signing either Horford or Luke Kornet, and could use Simons and Niang in sign-and-trade or salary dump scenarios to make that happen. The Knicks are one team said to be monitoring Horford’s situation.

Randle-to-Wolves Deal Offers Future Trade Flexibility

Julius Randle is staying with the Timberwolves on a three-year, $100 million contract, and according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, it’s being finalized as an extension, not a standard free agent deal.

That distinction matters, as it means Randle remains trade-eligible, and the contract will come with raises capped at 5%, making it easier to move if needed down the road.

Minnesota isn’t expected to actively shop Randle, but structuring the deal this way gives the front office some cushion should a blockbuster opportunity arise.
