Ahead of the , projected picks were featured in this month’s Reddit AMA. Check out the best responses below.
Question: What would you say to a fanbase that might draft you to get them hyped?
I’m going to do my best to get us what we need. That NBA Championship and a lot more coming.
– Ace Bailey
Question: What player are you most excited to play against?
I’d say LeBron. I feel like he is the greatest player of all time. Seeing if I can take anything from his game, and seeing if he has any advice for me.
– Asa Newell
Probably LeBron, just because he ain’t got that much time left. But there’s so many, like these are the best players in the world. So I am really excited to play against everybody.
– Cedric Coward
Question: Who is a retired player you’ve studied the most and what did you take from them?
Carmelo in the mid-post area. His footwork and being able not to dribble and create his own shot. Him being able to use his body to create a shot and use his finesse to create a shot. Basically, his whole mid-post game.
– Derik Queen
Kobe. Kobe’s my favorite player, just the mentality piece of everything. I remember shooting fadeaways in the driveway or in the street when I was little, counting down ‘3, 2, 1’, acting like I was on the Lakers winning the Finals with him or whatever it may be. But that’s my favorite player of all time. So I would say Kobe.
– Cedric Coward
I think Kobe. His work ethic. I try to model my game after him in terms of how I work, my mentality, and just being a little crazy. You gotta have a passion for what you do and put in the work every single day. And just trying to emulate footwork and just how he mastered his skills and just trying to continue to work towards that. That is something I really take from Kobe.
– Nique Clifford
I say I like to be myself. I just watch some guys to take something from them, but not one particular player.
–Kasparas Jakučionis
Question: You’ve got a game-winning possession and can choose any player from history to run a pick-and-roll with you — who are you picking, and why?
Shaq. In the NBA, they play a lot of drops, and if I want someone to screen the big man for me, I want it to be Shaq. Somebody physical and I know who is going to get him out of the way.
– Tre Johnson
Stephen Curry. I screen, he shoots or he passes me the lob. That’s it.
– Joan Beringer
Question: Which current or past NBA player’s game do you model yours after the most?
I wouldn’t say a specific player. I like to take bits and pieces from different guys’ games. Donovan Mitchell and Bradley Beal are probably the top 2. With Donovan, with all the different footwork he’s got, and whenever he’s getting down low and into the paint and going with his floaters. With Bradley Beal, the 1-2 dribble and putting it in the basket.
– Walter Clayton Jr.
I try to take a couple from plenty of different guys. I speak a little bit from Bam Adebayo and also the way Jokić reads the game.
– Thomas Sorber
The guy I definitely looked up to and idolized as a child is Dirk Nowitzki. A tall European who was super skilled and a winner. He was fun to watch and made the game look so effortless.
– Danny Wolf
Question: What’s something about the pressure of being a top recruit that most people don’t see or understand?
Just how hard the process is. How hard it is mentally and not just physically. Just waking up and doing the same thing every day for a very long time.
– Egor Demin
Question: If you could have a walk-out song when you get drafted, what would it be?
It would be a Hunxho song. It would probably be “48 Laws of Power”, “Highly Performing” or “Destined For This.”
– Ace Bailey
“Freestyle” by Rod Wave
– Thomas Sorber
Question: What’s your favorite set or play to run?
I like getting into the pick-and-pop and seeing if the threes are there or driving downhill.
– Asa Newell
I want to play fast. I like when I get ball screens, I like that a lot. That might not happen that much in the NBA but I like to go fast for sure.
– Collin Murray-Boyles
Question: The night you drafted: steak house or home cooked meal?
I would say a steakhouse. I think just being with my family is the most important thing.
– Noa Essengue
Question: What advice would you give other kids that want to make the league
Stay in the gym, constantly. There are no shortcuts or easy ways to get to it. You gotta stay in the gym endlessly, hours and hours. That’s what I tell the kids.
– Dylan Harper
Just get into the gym. Consistency is definitely key. I started to get into the gym a lot when I was in middle school and started to fall in love with it that way.
– Kon Kneuppel
Question: I’d like to know who everyone’s favorite player to watch was both as a kid, and now.
Kyrie. I really grew up watching Kyrie and all of his highlights.
– Nolan Traoré
I used to play for Ray Allen Select in Milwaukee when he was in Miami, so I definitely looked up to him. Khris Middleton, being a Bucks fan growing up, was another player I looked up to.
– Kon Kneuppel
Question: What made you fall in love with basketball?
Just the passion, I feel like my passion took me a long way. I really just enjoy the process of working out, getting better, and perfecting my craft. I’d definitely say my passion for the game and perfecting my craft.
–Jeremiah Fears
Passion. Just passionate about it. I have loved it since the first time I played it.
– Nolan Traoré
I just love playing basketball. I had a coach who helped me out, too. I just love competing.
– VJ Edgecombe
I just picked up a basketball at a young age and ever since then I fell in love with it.
– Will Riley
Question: VJ you were really impressive with The Bahamas national team last summer! Has this experience benefitted your career? Do you think you will continue with the team in the future?
I definitely benefited from it and will definitely continue. It’s my country, gotta put on.
– VJ Edgecombe
