She opened her home to her injured brother, David Kimani, not knowing that the act of kindness would tear her family apart.

The single mother of three was forced to take in her brother after he suffered injuries in a life-threatening incident.

Speaking to , Rahab, who works as a mama mboga, narrated how her 27-year-old brother ended up living with her.

"It was almost a month ago when my brother went to visit his girlfriend in Kiambu. When he arrived, he found her with another man. She claimed they weren’t doing anything, but my brother was both disappointed and angry. However, the other guy seemed to be the one with a real issue and he was drunk. A fight broke out and my brother was thrown off a fifth-floor balcony. Fortunately or unfortunately, he didn’t suffer major injuries, but he did break his leg," she said.

Since the incident, the suspect has been on the run, and efforts to trace him have been unsuccessful.

With nowhere else to go, and being incapacitated, David moved in with his sister.

However, Rahab’s decision affected her relationship.

"He (Rahab's partner) didn’t like it, and home became a living hell. He would come home drunk and insult us. This didn’t start when my brother moved in it had been happening before. He would sleep outside sometimes and even leave us without food," she said tearfully.

Caring for her brother has taken a toll on Rahab, whose income is meager and barely meets her family’s needs.

The growing demands forced her to temporarily close her business to focus on caring for her brother, who now requires special medical attention at home.

"We have been going to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital for medical check-ups. He needs to have a metal plate inserted, which costs money money we don’t have. I have children who depend on me and are still in school, then my brother and other domestic needs. It’s draining. I’m so overwhelmed," she added, holding back tears.

Financial contributions can be sent to Rahab via 0740593919. She expressed deep appreciation to the generous Kenyans who have already started supporting her.

This story re-ignited the age-old discussion on men visiting their girlfriends' homes. Many Kenyan men have often taken to social media to strongly advise their peers against such visits.

The men who advise against this suggest that one should only visit their girlfriend's house, only if they pay the rent and are sure about her loyalty to them.

Rameston Gisemba said:

"My simple advice on such matters, stop going to the lady's house, use the guest house. I stopped going to a lady's house when she left me at her house to go to the shop. I used the 5 minutes to search and without my expectations. I met a boxer 🩳 vest and one pair of men's shoes."

Satisfied Loner said:

“A man who can manage to fall asleep in a woman’s house is as good as a dead man.” Airbnb proverb."
"Since when do men have the audacity to go to a woman's house 🤷‍♀️."

In another story, a woman who was involved in a terrible road accident sought financial help for surgery after breaking her knee.

Sheila Ondeche from Kayole, Nairobi county broke her tibia and fibula in a life-altering accident in December 2023.

She struggled to afford medicine and raise money for her treatment, opening up about the challenges she faced.
