Nanumba North: Teachers urged to elevate teaching stands through enhanced lesson notes
Teachers in the Nanumba North Municipality of the Northern Region have been encouraged to elevate their teaching standards by thoroughly preparing lesson plans before entering the classroom. They have also been urged to abandon outdated teaching practices as times have changed.
According to the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Patrince Sitso Komla Egbadewor, if teachers dedicate themselves to their work and adequately prepare, there will be a significant improvement in students’ academic performance.
Education remains the cornerstone of every community’s development. When a community embraces quality education, progress follows.
Recently, concerns about the preparation of lesson plans by teachers have been raised in the media.
In the Nanumba North Municipality, the newly appointed Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Patrince Sitso Komla Egbadewor, has called on teachers to prioritize the preparation of their lesson notes before stepping into the classroom.
Mr. Komla emphasized that with the current administration, there is a pressing need for teachers to adapt to the changes and improve their professionalism. He warned that inadequate preparation could result in embarrassment, especially when confronted by brilliant students. He made these remarks during the inauguration of renovated classroom blocks for Arabic schools in Bimbilla.
“I want to urge and appeal to my teachers to up their game by taking the lesson notes preparation very seriously. A teacher who goes to the classroom without prior planning could lead to embarrassment if there is a brilliant child in the class. My teachers, let us improve on our professionalism by taking our job seriously.”
Mr. Komla also pointed out that many pupils in the municipality struggle to speak English fluently. He urged teachers to reduce their use of local languages with the students to encourage proficiency in English.
“I have seen that pupils in the municipality have difficulty speaking English, and I will want to urge my teachers to at least desist from all the time using the local language. At least speak English with them and encourage them to speak.”
On the progress of Arabic schools in the municipality, the Municipal Director praised the officer in charge of Arabic education, Alhaji Abukari Alhassan Safo, as well as the alumni of these schools, for their dedication. He pledged his full support for their initiatives and encouraged other mission schools to follow suit.
“I am very happy and confident for my officer in charge. In fact, he has made me so proud that there is a facelift in the Arabic schools in the municipality. I will want to give my full support for the initiative, and I want to use this medium to call on other mission schools to emulate this very important initiative.”
The officer in charge of the Arabic units, Alhaji Abukari Alhassan Safo, expressed his gratitude to the Municipal Director for the trust placed in him. He promised to continue working towards the development of the schools.
“I am extremely grateful to the director for the confidence he has in me for appointing me as the officer in charge of Arabic schools. Director, I am most grateful. My next assignment is to make sure that the schools improve on the teaching and learning, and so I will want to ensure that the schools develop appropriate facilities. I will also want to express my gratitude to the Alumni and Alhaji Nigro for the support they have given us in all this.”
