A non-governmental group, The City Boy Movement, has condemned what it called a malicious and baseless report by an online newspaper, alleging that Seyi Tinubu sponsored thugs to disrupt the so-called inauguration of an unauthorised faction of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) led by Isa Atiku Abubakar.

Francis Tosin Shoga, the Director General of the City Boy Movement, in a statement during the weekend, dismissed the allegations as baseless and a clear attempt to smear the character of Seyi Tinubu.

The youth-led sociopolitical and good governance advocacy group asserted it would not stand by while its grand patron, Seyi Tinubu, is dragged into political controversies in which he has no involvement.

Shoga said in the statement, “As the Director General of the City Boy Movement, I categorically reject these baseless fabrications designed to tarnish the impeccable character of Barr. Seyi Tinubu.

“The allegations are desperate attempts at character assassination without a shred of evidence.

“Atiku’s melodramatic claims of being ‘stripped naked’ and ‘forced to make videos under duress’ are nothing but a theatrical performance that cannot fly or garner undeserved public sympathy. This is the 21st century”.

The group emphasised Seyi Tinubu’s calm demeanour and principled approach to youth engagement, stating, “He has consistently championed constructive dialogue, youth empowerment, and impactful development initiatives—not meddling in organisational affairs.”

However, in a firm rebuttal, it warned the masterminds of the smear campaign and urged Nigerian youths not to be pawns in the hands of anti-state elements.

“We want those orchestrating this smear campaign, including Atiku and his cohorts, to be prepared to face legal consequences for their defamatory actions.

“The City Boy Movement will not stand idly by while opportunists attempt to use Barr. Seyi Tinubu’s name is for cheap publicity.

“We encourage all Nigerian youth to disregard these attention-seeking theatrics and remain focused on constructive engagement that advances our collective progress.

“Atiku’s uncoordinated skit-making activities will not fly, regardless of whoever might be supporting his misguided endeavours,” Shoga added.
