NANS President Apologizes to Seyi Tinubu

Atiku Abubakar Isah, the factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has publicly apologized to Seyi Tinubu, retracting earlier allegations. Isah stated that his accusations against Seyi Tinubu were based on misinformation provided by the NANS president, Ladoja Olusola, who allegedly portrayed Seyi Tinubu as a threat to his life and tenure as NANS president.
Isah clarified that the claims of a N100 million bribe offered by Seyi Tinubu and the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, to promote President Bola Tinubu, were false and instigated. He issued a statement on his Facebook page titled “Setting the Records Straight/Public Apology to Seyi Tinubu,” on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, asserting that Olusola Ladoja influenced his initial allegations of bribery, abduction, assault, and forced recantation against Tinubu’s son.
According to Isah, Ladoja fed him lies and half-truths to remove him from his position as the duly elected President of NANS and take over the student body. He claimed Ladoja warned him privately that Seyi Tinubu could have him killed and ensure the case was buried by the police. Isah also stated that the allegations included the mobilization of thugs by Tinubu’s son to disrupt his inauguration, later discovering that Seyi Tinubu was not even present at the venue.
Nasir El-Rufai had previously called for an investigation into the allegations that Seyi Tinubu led an attack against the NANS President. Isah had accused Seyi Tinubu of storming the NANS inauguration venue with armed men and threatening his life. Seyi Tinubu denied these allegations, deeming them false and considering legal action against Isah.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to control Seyi Tinubu, who he claimed was attempting to purchase political loyalty through coercion, violence, and intimidation, following the initial allegations made by the factional NANS president.
