Judy Muchoki is still struggling to come to terms with the untimely and painful loss of her daughter, who was killed on the night of Thursday, June 19.

Abigail Wanjiku was attacked by unknown assailants shortly after making a brief visit to her mother.

Muchoki narrated the painful encounter before and after her daughter's death, describing how she found her daughter badly injured and lying on the floor.

"I had asked her to bring me a sweater at work. She did so, and we had a chat. She later bid me goodbye as she returned home. I usually close work at 11pm. When I returned home, I found her lying on the floor, dead," she painfully recounted.

According to the Kasarani Sub-County Chief Criminal Investigation Officer, Wanjiku was stabbed five times in the stomach and once in the neck.

A knife was recovered at the scene, which has aided investigations.

Additionally, Wanjiku was struck on the head with a blunt object, suspected to be a frying pan, which was also recovered at the scene.

Detectives have since launched a manhunt to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home, where an autopsy will be conducted.

Residents of Mwiki Phase Three were angered by the death of the 18-year-old and are calling for justice.

"The child finished her Form Four last year. Imagine, she had taken food to her mum who sells sausages by the roadside. She left home at 8pm. She was just a young girl," one resident lamented.

In a separate incident, a girl from Murang’a county who passed the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams died in a road accident after asking for a lift from a boda boda rider.

The 20-year-old was headed to visit her aunt in Gashosho when the boda boda she was riding on lost control.

The operator was carrying three passengers when the motorcycle went downhill and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Esther’s father, David Chege, was in the process of planning his daughter’s next academic step when he received the heartbreaking news.
