Nadda Highlights Ayushman Bharat Scheme's Historic Health Impact

Union Health Minister JP Nadda stated on Monday, June 9, that the flagship Ayushman Bharat-Jan Arogya scheme has spearheaded historic development in India's health sector. Highlighting progress over the last 11 years under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, Nadda said in a social media post, "In the last 11 years, there has been historic development in all areas including education, health, transport, infrastructure, and defense." He further noted that every section of society has been uplifted due to unprecedented initiatives such as the "Ayushman Bharat - Jan Arogya" by the government.
The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) has emerged as one of the world's largest publicly funded health insurance schemes. According to official government data as of May 30, over 41.02 crore Ayushman Cards have been created across 33 States and Union Territories. The scheme has facilitated 8.59 crore hospital admissions, amounting to Rs 1,19,858 crore, thereby ensuring access to secondary and tertiary care for numerous families without subjecting them to financial hardship and debt, as per an official government statement.
Nadda further highlighted the substantial growth in the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which have increased from a mere 80 in 2014 to 16,469 as of May 30. This expansion, he noted, has played a crucial role in making essential medicines more accessible and affordable for the common citizen, contributing significantly to public health.
The Union Minister asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India has made remarkable progress. "Under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, India has made remarkable progress in every field in the last 11 years. From becoming the fourth largest economy globally to international diplomacy, unprecedented work has been done on the upliftment of every section including farmers, women, youth, elderly, laborers, businessmen, infrastructure development, and inclusive policies," Nadda said. He emphasized that these developments have uplifted various segments of the population.
Several other government initiatives were recognized for their contribution to the nation's growth and poverty alleviation. These include the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Drone Didi scheme, self-help groups, and various self-employment schemes. Nadda stated that these programs have enabled "crores of citizens across the country to come out of the poverty line and live a life of dignity."
Concluding his remarks, Nadda described the 11 years of the Modi Government as being dedicated to "service, good governance and welfare of the poor." He expressed confidence that these concerted efforts are rapidly propelling the country towards its goal of building a 'developed India'.
