MLA Joykisan moots steps to abate Covid spread

Imphal, June 14 2025: Expressing strong concern over surging new wave of COVID-19 including in Manipur, Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan appealed to people particularly those displaced by the ongoing violence currently sheltering in relief camps to take utmost precaution.

MLA Kh Joykisan also launched mass tree plantation programme in Thangmeiband AC with the main objective of preventing environmental degradation and prevent heat wave amid climate change concerns.

Addressing media persons at Thangmeiband Tombisana high school relief camp Saturday, Th Joykisan said Governor and chief secretary, being the authority of the state in the present President's Rule, should take special measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 particularly in relief camps opened across the state.

In view of the surging positive cases in the state, special measures must be initiated at relief camps where displaced people are living together with congestion; he insisted.

As precautionary measures to prevent spread of COVID-19, Kh Joykisan distributed sanitisers for inmates of three relief camps opened in Thangmeiband AC through volunteers manning the relief camps.

On the other hand, MLA Joykisan launched a mass tree plantation campaign in Thangmeiband AC by planting a sapling inside the campus of Thangmeiband Tombisana high school on Saturday.

He informed that the mass tree plantation campaign began simultaneously on Saturday afternoon in different areas of Thangmeiband in coordination with different clubs.

MLA Kh Joykisan also expressed his heartfelt condolences on the demise of two young girls of the state in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad and shared pain and grief of the bereaved families.
