Miley Cyrus recently opened up about how her relationship with fans has evolved since her Hannah Montana days. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she reflected on how she was once a "friend to the world"—always accessible through TV and touring. Now, she feels that dynamic has shifted, as she’s no longer in the same media landscape that made her so present in people’s lives.
"Because when you were little," she continued, "you would watch episodes of Hannah Montana, and you would hear me all day if you wanted to listen to my music."

But today, the 32-year-old says, everything feels different.
"There was something accessible because I was on TV and I was touring," Miley said of her younger years. "It was a different time in media, too."
She also expressed admiration for Beyoncé, noting how Queen Bey has cultivated a different kind of connection with her audience—one that feels more like a maternal presence rather than direct accessibility.
Miley Cyrus is showing appreciation for Beyoncé and her godmother Dolly Parton! 🌸 In recent interview, she praised both icons for their influence and impact on music and culture. She highlighted Beyoncé’s ability to cultivate a strong connection with her fans and admired Dolly Parton’s legendary status in country music.
And for that reason, the "Flowers" singer greatly admires her "II Most Wanted" co-star Beyoncé and how she has handled the spotlight over the years.
"Beyoncé and I are very different," she said. "In her fandom, it's Queen Bey. She feels in this way of like a mother to the world."
Miley went on to call the member of Destiny's Child "a goddess," "She's kind of this queen. I've always felt a very motherly kind of feeling from her."
However, that doesn't mean Miley, who played the lead role of Hannah Montana's popstar from 2006 to 2011, regrets appearing on television. As a matter of fact, she already gave the fictional character credit for creating "Miley in so many ways."
In 2024, she told the audience, "I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana," as she accepted a Disney Legend award. "This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans and to everyone who has made my dream a reality."
As the legend herself once said, "This is the life," Miley concluded.
Yes! Miley Cyrus is sitting down with Zane Lowe at Village Studios in LA to discuss her upcoming album, Something Beautiful. The interview will be available on Apple Music and YouTube on Wednesday, May 21st.
Her album, Something Beautiful, is set to release on May 30, 2025, and it explores themes of healing and finding beauty in dark moments. Fans can expect a visual album experience, inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall.
