Max temp likely to touch 41°C today

Ahmedabad: With no monsoon in sight, the mercury climbed upwards on Saturday to 40.7 degrees celsius, compared to 40.6 degrees on Friday. On Sunday, the maximum temperature may remain around 41 degrees celsius, indicated the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast.

With no major system in sight, only five talukas in Saurashtra recorded rain on Saturday.At 53mm, Babra in Amreli recorded the highest rainfall till 8pm on Saturday, followed by 25mm in Lodhika and 13mm in Rajkot, 9mm in Lathi, and 2mm in Kalavad in Jamnagar. In other parts of the state, the weather remained clear. The northern limit of the monsoon remained at Mumbai and Ahilyanagar in Mumbai and Puri in Odisha. There are slim chances of its progress in the next few days, indicated the forecast.At 41.8 degrees, Kandla recorded the highest maximum temperature in Gujarat, followed by 41.1 degrees in Rajkot, 40.8 degrees in Surendranagar and Deesa, and 40.7 degrees in Ahmedabad. With mixed weather conditions, several health issues saw an upward trend in some parts of the state, said experts.
