Maryland lands Indiana transfer guard Myles Rice
Maryland men’s basketball has landed a commitment from Indiana transfer guard Myles Rice, per Dushawn London of 247Sports:
Rice had been the Hoosiers’ starting point guard for the first months of the 2024-25 season but ended his time with the program coming off the bench after a streak of unreliable play, particularly in crunch time.
He averaged 10.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 27.5 minutes per game this past season while shooting 32.5% from long range.
Now he’ll join Buzz Williams’ rebuilding project in College Park. The Terps were in need of a point guard after Ja’Kobi Gillespie’s departure for Tennessee in the transfer portal and Williams quickly filled that spot with a guy who’s seen time in the conference.
At his best, Rice can still be a very, very impactful player. He runs the pick and roll well, has tremendous burst and speed with the ball and there’s room for his shooting numbers to improve.
