Man Utd Legend Paul Scholes Speaks on 'Beef' Between Rashford and Amorim, Picks His Side

Marcus Rashford continues to be exiled by Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.

Despite saying he still wants to play for Man United, the 27-year-old has been included in one matchday squad but he was an unused substitute.

Club legend Paul Scholes has shared his take on the situation and drawn a controversial conclusion.

Rashford's disciplinary issues in the last few years are well-documented but has never missed this many games as punishment.

Amorim is reportedly not impressed with the winger's attitude and stressed that he has to "want it."

"I already spoke a lot about Marcus, it depends more on him than on me," Amorim said of Rashford earlier this month per Sky Sports. "He has to want it really, really bad. He's here, he's in our squad so he's our player and he's ready to play if I decide."

After Man United beat Fulham 1-0 on Sunday, Amorim controversially said he'd rather play his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach than a player who doesn't give his all.

Like Rashford, Scholes came through the Man United academy and won plenty of trophies. He said the England star should be banned from the dressing room.

“I think Marcus has let a lot of people down with his attitude and I think that's what the manager is trying to say," he said via MEN.
"So I think the fact of letting your team-mates down in that dressing room - he should be banished from the dressing room really. If he's in and around that and young people are seeing that as an example, the sooner he's gone the better."

An injury to Anthony Martial resulted in Rashford making his debut against FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League in February 2016.

He bagged a brace and the rest as they say is history. He went on to become a key player for the club under every manager who came before Amorim.

In the 2022/23 season, Erik ten Hag's first campaign as Man United boss, he registered 30 goals and nine assists, the best return in his career.

In total, Rashford has 143 goals and 63 assists in 443 appearances for his boyhood club, per Transfermarkt.

Days after Amorim dropped him for the first time, he told journalist Henry Winter he "wants a new challenge."

“For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

earlier reported that Amorim and Rashford are no longer on speaking terms.

It has been reported that the former Sporting CP coach doesn't speak to Rashford individually and only does it when he talks to the squad as a whole.
