SYDNEY, June 8 (Xinhua) -- A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting his neighbor during an argument in south of Brisbane, Australia.

The police service in the state of Queensland said on Sunday that it would be alleged in court that an argument broke out between two men who are known to each other in the suburb of Bethania, 28 km southeast of central Brisbane, shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday.

During the argument, a 62-year-old man allegedly shot a 35-year-old man twice, once in the shoulder and once in the chest.

The 35-year-old was taken to hospital where police said he was in a stable condition on Sunday.

The 62-year-old was arrested and has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and failing to securely store a weapon.

News Corp Australia newspapers reported that the two men were neighbors.
