A new “showtime” showed up for the Los Angeles Lakers inside Ball Arena Saturday. Fans longed to see how Luka Doncic and LeBron James would collaborate. Both got fans going bonkers with under a minute left in the second quarter against the Denver Nuggets.

The newcomer Doncic dribbled down the middle. He hit a second gear the moment he touched the Nuggets' midcourt logo. Doncic then lobbed the basketball to a sprinting James. Both executed their first alley-oop together.

The alley-oop dunk became one of two massive first half highlights for the newly added star Doncic. The Lakers watched him drop 16 points to start the first quarter. That start got fans buzzing. But the Doncic/James connection in the second got more fans chiming in relentlessly.

“LUKA. LOB. LEBRON,” the account posted with a fireworks explosion emoji.

The NBA X account wasn't the only basketball themed post for the epic lob.

“My goodness,” were among the words used by Hoops Central on the social media site.

Meanwhile, the popular Lakers fan account LakeShowYo immediately thought of a glorious time for Laker fans after watching the alley-oop.

“THE SHOWTIME LAKERS ARE BACK,” the fan posted in all caps.

Doncic finished the first half scoring 19 points. He did get called for a technical foul before halftime. But he still showed the fire and energy the Lakers hoped to see from him after the trade for Anthony Davis. Doncic even hit his Lakers preparation hard, per ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania before the game.

The Lakers took a 63-54 lead into halftime. Los Angeles then led by as many as 12 before the fourth quarter arrived. But Lakers fans were treated to a sample of the potential explosive collaboration of Doncic and James.
