The third time was the charm for on Love on the Spectrum when he connected with girlfriend . The lovely couple celebrated their one-year anniversary and James shared a sweet message about his relationship with Shelley in celebration of their milestone together.

“I would like to wish a happy first anniversary to @shelley.wolfee! You are the most amazing and wonderful person whom I have ever met, and I love you more than what I can express in words!” James, 37, gushed via Instagram on Monday, April 28. “This past year has been one of the best years of my life, and I am so glad that we are on this journey, together, so I am looking forward to sharing a lifetime of wonderful and happy memories, with you!”

James, who has Asperger’s syndrome, paired the note alongside a photo of Shelley as they clinked their water glasses at a fancy dinner. The onsite support specialist donned an intergalactic tie-dye button-up shirt, and Shelley wore a cute red and white-colored dress.

Shelley, for her part, publicly celebrated their anniversary early via Instagram and showed fans a side of James that hasn’t been highlighted on Love on the Spectrum.

In a TikTok video, James rocked onstage during karaoke and screamed Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” and Shelley proudly recorded from the audience.

“James and I are celebrating our one-year anniversary this week, and this video is from our first date in April 2024,” she captioned the April 15 post.

“I wish I had one ounce of James’ confidence! Karaoke on a first date, such an ice-breaker!! Xx,” one fan wrote, while a second person commented, “Thank you for showing us another side of James that the show failed to do.”

Fans only saw one interaction between Shelley and James during the Love on the Spectrum season 3 finale – after his failed speed dating participation. James threw a quaint backyard bonfire for his 37th birthday, but he and Shelley had one-on-one time once his friends left. James expressed his feelings for soft-spoken Shelley and they became an official couple and shared a kiss.

Their love story truly began after filming as the pair traveled together and experienced their shared interests. Shelley launched a TikTok account one week after the April 2 debut of season 3 and updated fans on her relationship with James with content they took while their romance was a secret.

On April 9, Shelley shared a TikTok video of their trip to a Disturbed concert and James headbanged his heart out to the heavy metal band. A second video was shared days later, as Shelley recorded James meeting the band members of Disturbed during a VIP meet-and-greet.

“James and I met Disturbed at TD Garden, and it was an unforgettable experience,” Shelley captioned the April 17 post. “Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming, and we had an amazing time. Thank you for making this moment so special.”

James and Shelley’s connection is easy to spot on social media and he confirmed their love is real and also called Shelley “The One.”

“She has such a wonderful personality. She and I have so much in common,” he told People in a story published on April 18. “We complement each other. She and I inspire each other to be better. I believe that we bring out the best in each other.”
