Live M6 updates as traffic brought to a stop after North Staffordshire smash
Traffic has been brought to a halt on the M6 through North Staffordshire following a collision. Police have 'temporarily held' motorists on the southbound stretch near Junction 16 following the crash.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix has reported the collision has taken place on the North Staffordshire-leg of the motorway - between Junction 16 and Junction 15. Live traffic cameras from the motorway show southbound traffic is currently at a halt.
Meanwhile it's also slow on the northbound carriageway as drivers pass the scene. A live map from National Highways show that traffic is at a stop just after Junction 16 all the way down to the stretch past Newcastle.
An alert issued by Inrix just before 9.30am states: "All traffic being temporarily held and slow traffic due to accident on M6 Southbound from J16 A500 (Stoke-on-Trent / Crewe) to J15 A500 D-road (Stoke-on-Trent)."
No details on the collision have yet been released.
