Let's sacrifice to build next generation, Speaker Abass says - Daily Trust

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, has challenged Nigerians, especially leaders, to imbibe the culture of sacrifice in order to build the next generation.

Abass spoke in Abeokuta, Ogun State, at the 8th Day Fidau Prayers held for the late Monsurat Bankole, mother of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole. She died on January 10 aged 78.

The fidau prayers attracted former governors, Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Emeka Ihedioha (Imo), former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; former Deputy Speaker, Yusuff Lasun; former minister of state for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; and former minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, among others.

Abass, who was represented by his Deputy, Ben Kalu, paid tributes to Bankole’s mother for a life of sacrifice.

Governor Dapo Abiodun who was represented by his deputy, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the deceased lived a fulfilled and selfless life, leaving behind a legacy of “goodness and kindness.”

Sirika said she was passionate about the spread of Islam and lived a godly life.

The Chief Imam of Gbagura, Prof. Kamardeen Balogun, described her as a virtuous woman.
