Lennon Miller handed 'Celtic or Rangers' transfer verdict as Motherwell talent told which league suits him best - Football Scotland

Lennon Miller has been urged to ignore a move to both Celtic AND Rangers by making the switch to Serie A.

The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the top talents to come out of the Premiership in recent years after breaking into the Motherwell first team.

It looks increasingly likely that this summer will bring a new chapter in his career with four Italian clubs joining the Old Firm clubs as interested parties.

Eintracht Frankfurt, Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg have also been credited with interest as well as German giants Borussia Dortmund.

Both Udinese and Celtic reportedly had bids rejected for him during the January window, with Belgian outfit Union Saint-Gilloise - a sister club of Brighton & Hove Albion - also putting their name in the hat.

But Miller's Motherwell teammate Andy Halliday believes he knows exactly what the next step should be - and it would follow in the path's of international teammates Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour and Lewis Ferguson.

“There’s no chance he stays at Motherwell,” Halliday said on Open Goal.

“I don’t want to put words in anybody’s mouth but I don’t think it would suit Motherwell to keep him next year as well.

"He’s only got a year left on his contract, loads of clubs want him, so you’re commanding a big fee.

"I think it makes sense for everyone.”

Asked where he thinks the midfielder will end up, Halliday didn’t hesitate: “Serie A.”

“I think abroad,” he added.

“There’s so many clubs around Europe that are after him and I think his playing style suits playing abroad as well.”
