George Obienge, a middle-aged man from Kitengela, has recalled how he heard his son's voice on a TikTok live while following the Finance Bill 2024 demos and moments later he was killed

Speaking on Citizen TV, Obienge said that he could see smoke billowing around their home and decided to call Shaquille, but he didn't pick up.
"So I stayed there looking at the unfolding events, Eastmatt was a no-go zone; around 4pm, I learnt that the first casualty had been shot dead and I looked at the photo, in the video. At that moment, I heard my son's voice shouting you have killed, Ruto whats is this?" he narrated.
"I was worried, but the assurance was that I heard his voice, which meant he was still alive. At around 6 pm or 7 pm, somebody called my phone and said there is a boy who has been shot dead, and as he was being carried away, the phone fell from his pocket and the last number he called was yours," said the grieving dad.

Obienge rushed to watch the news, and the only person reported dead was the man he had earlier seen. So, he gathered strength to go to the Eastmatt stage, but when he got downstairs, the police told him that no one was outside in the middle of the night, so he should return home.
In the morning, he called his cousin Lule Okoth and asked to be taken to Saitoti Mortuary, but they said that they don't allow accident victims or those who had been shot, so he went to the City Mortuary.
"When the body was brought, it was drenched in blood; we couldn't see it well, and I had to rub the blood from his eyes and was convinced it was him. The next thing is that he had a big navel," recalled the grieving father.
