According to the police report, three people died following the accident that involved a Cruiser PSV matatu on Sunday, June 8.

Preliminary reports show that the PSV matatu en route to Nairobi rammed into two motorbikes near Keroka Sub-County Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the accident allegedly occurred after the driver lost control, veered off the road, and landed in a ditch due to brake failure.

The fatal crash occurred around 11am along a dangerously steep slope between Ichuni and Keroka town.

According to eyewitnesses, the Nairobi-bound matatu had picked up several passengers along the Kilgoris-Nyangusu-Gesusu-Masimba route before it lost control under unclear circumstances moments later.

Images of the scene, obtained by TUKO.co.ke, showed the vehicle in a horrific state, severely mangled as it lay in a ditch.

Notably, one of the matatu's tyres was missing, with witnesses describing how the wheel malfunctioned, causing the matatu to swerve erratically for a few seconds before colliding with two motorcycles.
