Ken Holmqvist 'no longer talking' with Ginebra as he restarts career at TNT
IT’S all over between Ken Holmqvist and Barangay Ginebra, the team that selected him in the first round at 12th overall back in the 2021 PBA Rookie Draft.
The 6-foot-8 Fil-Norwegian told SPIN.ph he’s already cut ties with the Gin Kings and is dead set on starting a new chapter with the TNT Tropang Giga.
“I’m not talking to Ginebra anymore,” Holmqvist said on the sidelines of the Zamboanga Valientes’ training for the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship.
“I like it in TNT so hopefully, they keep me around.”
Not a lot was known about Holmqvist since his under-the-radar emergence from Norway to the UAAP with Far Eastern University.
Since being drafted by Ginebra in 2021, various 3x3 basketball stints followed shortly after his brief college run before his Blackwater tryout under then-head coach Ariel Vanguardia also fell flat.

This time around, Holmqvist is committed to make his PBA dream a reality while juggling TNT practices with his Valientes duties after being referred by an unnamed Philippine player to team owner Junnie Navarro.
Holmqvist is currently a practice player at TNT while tying to crash the team's PBA lineup.

“I’m just trying to do my best in TNT. Hopefully, I land a spot there. I just came from there (TNT practice) actually so I’m a bit tired,” he said.
