The trilogy fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is nearly upon us. Taylor vs. Serrano 3 headlines an all-women’s fight card at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 11. Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight title will be at stake in the main event. In total six title fights will take place on the boxing fight card, which streams live on Netflix.

"We’re going to go out there and we’re going to put it all on the line this fight so you’re going to see who the true champion is July 11," Serrano said at the pre-fight press conference.

"(Taylor) has to prove to everybody and to herself that she beat me convincingly, both those fights, and I need to go out there and prove to those judges, like, 'Come on, what are you watching?'"

"If you look at the fights you can clearly see that I won those fights," said Taylor. "It's really, really insane that she thinks she won those fights."

The fight, which headlines an all-women’s card is currently scheduled to be contested over 10 two minute rounds, something that Serrano was not happy with.

"First of all, we shook on it," Serrano said of the fight being three minute rounds. "She didn't agree when we went to sign the contract."

"I think as a matter of principle that the challenger shouldn’t be dictating the terms of the fight," Taylor said in reply. "I am 2-0 here and I’m in the driver's seat here and that's only right. At the end of the day Amanda needs this fight a lot more than I do. I have a long history of big fights against big names and a line of people queuing up to fight me for the payday."

When the betting line opened for the third fight between Taylor and Serrano, Taylor was the -146 betting favorite over Serrano, who came in as the +114 betting underdog. Those odds have flipped. Today, Taylor is the +128 underdog, while Serrano sits as the -165 favorite.

"Our styles will always make it an exciting fight. Our first two fights were Fight of the Year contenders, and I am hoping this fight is as exciting," Taylor told Fox News. "Just for my own sake, I am hoping I can beat her a bit more easily. But just to showcase female fight night at its best, it’s huge for the sport. It is going to be an amazing moment for women’s sports on that night."

"I definitely don’t need to do this — she definitely needs this fight a lot more than I do," Taylor added.

"I just want to be involved in the biggest fights possible. I realized after the second fight this still was the biggest fight in women’s boxing," Taylor continued. "And to fight live on Netflix and have a chance to headline it again, this is going to be another historic night. So it is huge, and I feel like fights are getting bigger and bigger at this stage.

“I didn’t think it was possible after the first fight, but then here we are a couple of years later. The last few fights have been bigger and bigger, and I feel like this one on July 11 is even bigger than last time.”

The rematch between Taylor and Serrano was part of the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson affair at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. That bout also went the distance, but there was some controversy after Serrano was awarded the unanimous decision.

While the crowd and the stats seemed to favor Taylor, the judges awarded Serrano the win with three scorecards of 95-94.

"This is an amazing moment again for women's boxing, and we put on a show," Taylor said. "We put on a performance again for everybody, and just thank God for another amazing night."

"I knew it was going to be a little shady, but listen, I came here, I chose to be great," Serrano said. "I went up three divisions. I lost. I dared to be great tonight, and I went up three divisions. I'm the featherweight champion of the world, and I want to be great."

The first time Taylor and Serrano met, the bout marked the first time two women headlined a boxing card at Madison Square Garden. In a tightly contested bout, Taylor edged out Serrano via split decision, taking two card 97-93 and 96-93, while the third went 96-94 for Serrano.

ESPN voted the fight the “Women’s fight of the Year” for 2022.

"The people that tuned in to watch the fight, it was not only boxing fans," Serrano told ESPN. "But it was celebrities outside of boxing that knew who we were, what we were doing, making history.

“It was just altogether, the week leading up to the fight, the promotion, how Madison Square Garden was promoting the fight, it was just amazing.”

"I think it actually exceeded everything that people were talking this week," Taylor said at the post-fight press conference. "Even walking out to the ring today, packed stadium. Unbelievable.

"It was absolutely, special, special moment. The best night of my career. For sure."
