Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved N151.8 million for the reconstruction of a mosque that was destroyed in an arson attack in May 2024 at Tiga Gadan, Gezawa LGA.
The reconstruction project will also include an Islamiyya school, an office block, the renovation of a six-unit toilet facility, and the installation of a solar-powered motorised borehole with an overhead water tank.
The commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya, said the approval fulfils a promise made by the governor when he visited the site shortly after the tragic incident.
He urged the people of Gadan village to support the project’s successful completion and ensure the protection of the new facilities.
An Upper Shariah Court recently sentenced Shafiu Abubakar to death by hanging for setting fire to the mosque, a tragedy that claimed the lives of 23 worshippers.
