Director Indra Kumar’s 1997 film Ishq, starring Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, Kajol, and Ajay Devgn, was a major box office success, earning widespread praise for its humor and soundtrack. Interestingly, the film took nearly 300 days to complete production.

In a recent interview with The Mashable, Kajol reflected on her time during the shoot of Ishq, sharing that she often found herself alone on set, as Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla shared a close bond with the director. This, she revealed, played a part in her growing connection with Ajay Devgn. “Aamir was very friendly with the director and so was Juhi so these three were a close knit group and then there was Ajay and me. And eventually, it was just me. There were certain days on set when I was not willing to talk to anybody,” Kajol said.

Explaining why she often isolated herself on set, Kajol shared that the lengthy shoot schedule played a significant role. “We spent 300 days together. That film took 300 days to be made. We have no idea what we did for so many days. We used to spend 8-10 hours on set every day. I can’t be talking to all of them at all times. I can try to be social but I can’t constantly be chatting,” she said, adding that even an extrovert needs time to recharge.

Ishq also featured Dalip Tahil, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Johnny Lever, and Mohan Joshi in key roles, with music composed by Anu Malik.

Kajol and Ajay Devgn, who first met during the filming of Hulchul (1995), grew close while working on Ishq. They got married in 1999 and have been together for 26 years, raising two children, Nysa and Yug.
