Speaking during his vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, June 16, Justice Dzamefe stressed the need for more courtrooms and the adoption of modern technology to help ease pressure on Ghana’s "overstretched" judicial system.

“Anybody who wants to maximise productivity must first look at the human resources. That’s the mistake a lot of people make. Think of those who will give you the product. So, the first is to motivate the staff,” he said.

Justice Dzamefe noted that existing courts are overwhelmed, a situation that hampers both the pace and quality of justice. “If you want work to go on fast, we must not load entities too much. So, what do we need? We need more courts. If we have more courts, our cases go faster,” he explained.

He further advocated for the rollout of technology, including artificial intelligence tools like voice recording and automated transcription systems, to replace outdated manual processes still in use in some courtrooms.

“The time for long handwriting is past. So, we must rely on AI tools like voice recording and transcription, so that by the end of the day, when the court finishes sitting, the records are ready,” he stated.
