In an exciting move, season 3 brings back one major character from the Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard movie trilogy, but they also cast a different actor in the role. From the time that Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 2 introduced Jurassic World Dominion’s Sonoya Santos, it became clear that season 3 would have a stronger connection to the last movie in the Jurassic World trilogy.

However, they took this further than expecteds by directly crossing the storylines, building the entire season of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory up to the Malta black market scene from Jurassic World Dominion. In order to fully explore this storyline, they needed to introduce one major character from the trilogy to the cast of the Netflix show. Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3 finally brings back Barry Sembene, giving him more action scenes and character development.

The character Berry Sembene shows up in both Jurassic World and Jurassic World Dominion, playing a different kind of role in each. In World, Barry is Owen Grady’s friend who helps train the Velociraptor pack. He helps them stop the Indominus Rex during the Isla Nublar Incident. Then, he’s brought back in Jurassic World Dominion. He works as a French Intelligence Agent who’s trying to bring down the Malta dinosaur black market. He also helps Owen and Claire try to find their daughter.

Since Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3’s story crosses over with Jurassic World Dominion, the Netflix show could bring back Berry in multiple episodes. All of his appearances in the show have him crossing paths with the Nublar Six. First, he offers to give them a ride from Senegal to the US, with a stopover in Munich. However, they escape him after the plane crashes. Then, he runs into them again in Malta, playing a major role in the climax of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3.

Although Omar Sy plays Barry Sembene in the Jurassic World movies, . Lee started acting in 2013 and does almost exclusively voice work for animated TV shows, movies, and games. Most people will recognize his voice from his role as Lille Barro in the English dub of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War and Jazz in the 2024 Optimus Prime and Megatron origin story Transformers One. However, he has also voiced characters in the video games Lost Ark, Spider-Man 2, Fortnite: Chapter 5, and Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Sy could also be too expensive for the show after landing on the Time 100 list in 2021 – an incredible accomplishment.

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory shows some of what went on for Barry leading up to the Malta market incident in Jurassic World Dominion. Dominion established that he began working as a French Intelligence agent shortly after opening a cafe with his cousin. In the Netflix series, he’s shown transporting an injured Kentrosaurus to Munich for medical care – a part of his job that wasn’t outlined in detail in the movie. .

Additionally, the Netflix show displays his work on taking down the black market in Malta on behalf of the French Intelligence Agency. Towards the end of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3, Barry arrives in Malta sooner than the planned French Intelligence operation, seemingly to scope out the place where the mission will go down. He was also probably looking for Maisie Lockwood and Beta.

The onscreen action in Jurassic World Dominion also makes it seem like Barry’s the primary person responsible for the takedown of Sonoya Santos. The camera cuts away during the arrest, implying that everything went down as expected. However, in reality, Chaos Theory shows that he had help from the Nublar Six. Ben and Davi helped Barry get free after Santos trapped Barry under a crate. Additionally, Brooklynn helped delay Santos long enough for the group, including Barry, to show up and stop the broker. The collaborative effort shown in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory feels more realistic and adds drama.
