NDLEA intercepts cocaine concealed in religious books

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have been actively seizing illicit substances and arresting suspects across Nigeria. A 22-year-old, Muhammad Mohammed, was apprehended on the Bichi-Kano road with 277 ampoules of pentazocine injection concealed on his person. Another suspect, Mohammed Abdulrahman Abdulaziz, 43, was arrested in Kano with 30 kilogrammes of skunk.
The NDLEA also intercepted a shipment of cocaine hidden within the pages of religious books destined for Saudi Arabia at a courier company in Lagos. The consignment weighed 500 grammes. Simultaneously, at another courier company, officers intercepted 2.8 kilogrammes of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, arriving from the United States.
In Bayelsa State, a raid on a house in Yenagoa led to the recovery of 557.2 kilogrammes of skunk, 5.6 kilogrammes of methamphetamine, and 29.8 grammes of heroin. Four suspects, Sarimiye Suwa Kurtis, Roland Prosper, Sarimiye Tare Paul, and Fidelis Ugbesla, were arrested.
Furthermore, a delivery van was intercepted in Surulere, Lagos, with 1,100 kilogrammes of skunk, and the driver, Ismail Abdullahi, was arrested. In Kaduna, a raid on a suspect's hideout in Zaria resulted in the seizure of 31,950 pills of Tramadol 225mg and diazepam.
In Kebbi State, a vehicle carrying charcoal from Benin Republic was intercepted with 97 kilogrammes of skunk concealed within the sacks. Three suspects, Abubakar Ibrahim, Mustapha Aliyu, and Bashar Lawali, were arrested. In Anambra State, Okafor Marcel, 48, was apprehended with 11.5 kilogrammes of skunk at Abatete. Ajala Mercy, 27, was arrested in Osun State with 43 litres of skushi, a mixture of blackcurrant, cannabis, and opioids.
NDLEA operatives also raided two cannabis farms in Edo State, destroying 3,717.8625 kilogrammes of cannabis on 1.487145 hectares of land and recovering an additional 136.5 kilogrammes of processed cannabis. At the Tincan seaport in Lagos, Basorun Usman Kayode, who had been on the run for two years, was arrested in connection with a 2023 seizure of 107 kilogrammes of Loud imported from Canada. Dauda Yakubu, a drug distributor within the seaport community, was also arrested.
