July will be another bountiful month
Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued its forecast for July. "Monthly average rainfall over the country as a whole in July 2025 is most likely to be above normal, exceeding 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA).
Geographically, most parts of the country are likely to experience normal to above-normal rainfall," it states. According to an IMD map, some parts of central Gujarat are expected to receive normal rains, whereas parts of Kutch may get below-normal showers. Parts of Jamnagar and Devbhumi Dwarka are shown to receive excessive rainfall.Meanwhile, the state on Monday received widespread rains with 151 out of 252 talukas receiving at least 1mm of rain.
Till 8pm, 81mm of rain, the highest, was recorded in Kalavad (Jamnagar), followed by 77mm in Ranavav, 67mm in Junagadh and Manavadar each, and 56mm in Jetpur (Rajkot) among others. Ahmedabad city recorded 2mm of rain, whereas Daskroi received 16mm of rain, according to SEOC data.
Ahmedabad's maximum temperature on Monday was 32.5 degrees celsius, 3.5 degrees below normal, whereas at 25.5 degrees, the minimum temperature was 1.3 degrees below normal.
The forecast for Tuesday indicates chances of heavy rain at isolated places in Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli and Bhavnagar. On Wednesday, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in parts of Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Navsari and Valsad, whereas heavy showers are likely in Banaskantha, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Amreli and Bhavnagar.
