While giving tribute in honour of her late son, Munuve's mother looked emotional but strong as she shared how she raised her son.

"Munuve was my son, and he was a good child. He had leadership skills that started when he was a child. I used to call him a priest. This was because everything he was doing was aligning with what priests do. He was a good child," she said.

Munuve's brother also lamented losing someone who was like a father to him and noted that he was in good health before his death.

"On behalf of the family, I would like to thank you all for holding and supporting us. I would like to recognise all the MCAs, MPs, and our woman rep and my MP, James Gakuya. When Munuve called me on April 22, he told me I am up because of you. I left and went to book him in the hospital. When he got to the hospital, he was taken to the ER. When I got there, I found that he had already left," he said.

The late MCA's brother noted that he was a kind person who had values rooted in Christ.

"He may not be here today, and my mum has lost her eldest son, who was like my father, who took care of us from 2012, but mum, I will tell you this, you have found more than 30 people from Kariobangi as your family today. We are a praying family, like you have been told, this altar was started by our grandfather," he added.

Human rights activist Fredrick Omondi, who attended Munuve's funeral, told that he had lost a friend and a champion on humanitarian issues.

"It was really sad bidding goodbye to a friend. He was a people-first type of leader, and the manner he went out is also questionable. I pray that his family and the people of Kariobangi North also find peace and such a leader in future," he said.

After the burial, Munuve's family had an after-party for the guests who had flocked to his mum's home to bid goodbye to the leader.

Hours after Munuve's death, a clip of the Kariobangi North MCA celebrating a birthday and looking happy with his loved ones emerged online.

In the clip, he was dancing and cutting his birthday cake as he enjoyed the day with close friends and family.

The youthful politician had been putting the Nairobi County Government on its toes over accountability, and many were sad to learn that he was no more.
