JetBlue Airways has announced an extension of its flight suspension to Haiti, citing ongoing civil unrest and security concerns. Flights to and from Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) in Port-au-Prince will remain halted until at least June 11, 2025, according to an official statement.

The airline previously suspended flights until April 2025, but due to persistent instability, JetBlue will continue monitoring conditions before resuming service.

“Due to the ongoing civil unrest in Haiti, we have made the decision to suspend all flights to and from the country,” a JetBlue spokesperson confirmed.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has prohibited US air carriers and commercial operators from flying into Port-au-Prince. The restriction, which began in December 2024, followed multiple incidents of gunfire targeting aircraft in Haitian airspace.

Although the FAA’s current ban is set to expire on March 12, 2025, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and US Department of State continue to warn against travel to Haiti due to:

Haiti’s government officially reopened Toussaint Louverture International Airport in December 2024 after a month-long closure caused by gunfire incidents targeting aircraft.

The US Department of State has since reported that commercial air traffic in Port-au-Prince remains severely limited, with only a few airlines continuing operations.

Currently, limited daily commercial flights are available from Cap-Haïtien to Miami, Florida, and other Caribbean destinations. However, major US airlines including Spirit Airlines, American Airlines, and JetBlue have suspended flights to Port-au-Prince until further notice.

The US Department of State’s Haiti travel advisory remains at Level 4: Do Not Travel, warning:

“US nationals should not travel to Haiti due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and limited healthcare availability.”

The FAA and US Embassy in Haiti continue to evaluate the situation, and further travel restrictions or extensions may be announced.

JetBlue, along with other US-based airlines, will continue assessing security conditions in Haiti before resuming flights. The FAA and US State Department advise travelers to stay updated on official government alerts for the latest travel information.
