Aruba Airport Gears Up to Transform US Travel Experience with New Check-In Terminal and Enhanced Systems
Friday, March 28, 2025
Aruba Airport is set to open its new US Check-In terminal, further enhancing the passenger experience. In collaboration with Chrysalis Global Consulting, an Operational Readiness and Airport Transition (ORAT) specialist, the airport recently conducted a series of flight drills. These week-long exercises involved volunteer passengers who participated in simulated check-in procedures, allowing Aruba Airport to test and fine-tune various systems, including baggage handling and passenger flow. The tests provided crucial insights into the terminal’s efficiency, ensuring all systems are fully operational for its official launch.
The successful implementation of the new facility relies heavily on the collaboration and commitment of partner airlines and ground handlers. Their active involvement in training and testing is critical to ensuring a seamless transition for travelers.
The soft opening will begin on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, when all airlines with General Air Services as their ground handler, including Delta, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit, will begin using the new check-in kiosks. By Tuesday, April 29, 2025, all U.S. airlines, including those with AGS/Swissport as ground handlers, are expected to operate from the new terminal. The final phase will bring JetBlue and American Airlines on board.
Aruba Airport appreciates the patience and cooperation of passengers and stakeholders as preparations continue. Further updates will be provided in the coming weeks as we approach the full reopening in May.
“This transition marks an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to improve the airport experience. Thanks to close collaboration with our airline partners and ground handlers, all systems are in place to provide passengers with a streamlined check-in process,” said Marylou Van der Linden, Aruba Airport Operations Manager.
