In return, they received Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony and four unprotected first-round picks.

A significant haul in exchange for Bane, who’s averaged 18 PPG+ since 2021-22 and shot for his career 41% from three.

Core players under contract for next season are Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., Brandon Clarke, Vince Williams Jr, Cam Spencer, and others, including the players get from the Bane trade.

With Memphis facing some difficult questions regarding its roster this upcoming season, there were concerns about whether the team would extend the contract of Jaren Jackson Jr.

This has now changed. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Memphis Grizzlies are expected to agree on a five-year, $240 million max extension.

Jackson Jr. is a 2x time NBA all-star and was the 2022-23 Defensive Player of the Year. In 2024-25, he averaged 22.2 PPG, 5.6 RPG, on 48.8 FG%. He also shot 37.5% from three on 5.3 attempts per game.

In the playoffs, Jackson Jr. struggled to find a rhythm – with his numbers dropping to 16.0 PPG on 37.9% from the field.

Memphis, with Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. as their two top players, will look to make a footprint in the West in the 2025-26 NBA season.
