Sonia is autistic. She also has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD, as well as attention deficit disorder (ADD).
Sonia revealed that she wasn’t diagnosed with autism until adulthood. She shared how she was held back in school and put in special education classes during an appearance on the “Bunny Hugs and Mental Health” podcast in April 2025.

The retail clerk discussed how she went over old school reports her dad kept from her childhood.
“It was just really weird to see how even no matter how young you are, at such a young age, how I was in special ed, and it was always an excuse. My father said I was lazy, but then they realized, and they accepted it that I have severe ADHD and ADD,” Sonia shared.
“They were able to grasp that,” Sonia continued, saying she underwent “extended testing.”
“But back then I had all these weird tests and then I showed it to one of my psychiatrists and they’re like, ‘You’re on the spectrum.’ And I’m like ‘Oh, well that makes sense,'” Sonia added.

During the podcast, Sonia described a recent dating experience where she was able to shut down her suitor’s desire for more physicality.
“I had a situation recently where a guy wanted to be sexual and I said no, and he respected it. That’s what I hope most men would do now,” she said.
Sonia was raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts, a college town just outside of Boston. She still lives in the area, and went on a date with fellow Bostonian James in season 3 of Love on the Spectrum.

“I just watched episode thee of season three, where James went on a date with Sonia. I know she’s probably more on the neurotypical end, but I wanted to give it up for a girl who had her best foot forward the entire time. Her energy was relaxed and playful,” one fan wrote in a Reddit thread praising Sonia’s personality.
“Being so gracious and understanding when James told her he wasn’t feeling a spark. Pretty much every other thing she said I was like, ‘damn, she knows how to flirt,'” the user added.
“James probably needs someone a little closer to his wavelength, but credit where credit’s due, Sonia was really good at flirting,” a second fan concurred.
A third fan shared, “She was so sweet, I loved her. She was really funny and was able to keep the convo going with humor and being real. Sad for her that she keeps getting rejected, she’s a real gem. She’ll find someone eventually with that personality and beauty – both inside and out.”
