For CSK, the match is an opportunity to test younger players and new combinations in a season that has yielded mixed results.
GT's batting strength has largely revolved around their top three—Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler—all of whom are set to leave for national duty after the team's final league match on Sunday.

Sai Sudharsan
After a stellar debut domestic season, Sai Sudharsan was picked up by Gujarat Titans for INR 20 lakh in the 2022 IPL auction. Opening the batting, he scored 145 runs in five matches, including his maiden IPL half-century. In the 2023 season, he was promoted to No. 3 and made the most of the opportunity, scoring 362 runs in eight innings. His standout performance came in the final against Chennai Super Kings, where he played a brilliant knock of 96 off 47 balls, though GT fell short in the end.
Sudharsan cemented his place in the team in IPL 2024, emerging as Gujarat Titans’ leading run-scorer with 527 runs at an impressive average of 47.90. His season featured two half-centuries and a stunning century against CSK.
Recognising his value, the Titans retained Sudharsan ahead of the 2025 IPL auction for INR 8.50 crore.
Shubman Gill, one of India’s brightest batting prospects, took on the role of captain for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024—his first leadership assignment in the league. While GT missed out on a playoff spot under his captaincy, Gill maintained his consistent form with a fifth straight season of 400-plus runs. He had a phenomenal 2023 season, winning the Orange Cap with 890 runs at a strike rate of 157.80—the second-highest run tally in a single IPL season. A vital part of GT’s title-winning campaign in 2022, Gill contributed 483 runs that year. Before his stint with Gujarat, he represented Kolkata Knight Riders from 2018 to 2021, finishing as their top run-getter in both 2020 (440 runs) and 2021 (478 runs) during their run to the final, though he was not retained after the 2021 season.
Prasidh Krishna's journey in the IPL began as a net bowler for RCB, but he quickly rose through the ranks in 2018 when he was brought in as a replacement for Kamlesh Nagarkoti at Kolkata Knight Riders. Making the most of his opportunity, he featured in seven matches that season and picked up 10 wickets, including a notable four-wicket haul against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With Shivam Mavi and Nagarkoti sidelined again in 2019, the responsibility fell on the Karnataka pacer to lead the charge with the ball.
In 2022, Rajasthan Royals secured his services for a hefty ₹12 crore. Prasidh delivered an impressive performance, playing a key role as the team’s designated death bowler and helping them reach the final. However, injuries kept him out of action for the next two IPL seasons. Not retained by RR, Prasidh is now set to represent Gujarat Titans in the 2025 edition.
Ravindra Jadeja’s remarkable run with both bat and ball continued in IPL 2021, leading to him being Chennai Super Kings’ highest-paid retention ahead of the 2022 season at INR 16 crore. A vital cog in the CSK setup, Jadeja was earlier retained ahead of the 2018 IPL Player Auction and has long been MS Dhoni’s trusted match-winner, often called upon to break crucial partnerships — a role he has executed with consistency.
His presence not only strengthens the bowling attack but also provides Dhoni the flexibility to include an extra batsman when needed. Jadeja's cricketing journey has been nothing short of impressive.
Deepak Hooda, a seasoned batting all-rounder, made his IPL debut in 2015 and has featured in over 100 matches since. Renowned for his aggressive strokeplay, Hooda has also made an impact on the international stage, including a T20I century against Ireland and a spot in India’s squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup. Acquired by Chennai Super Kings for INR 1.70 crore at the 2025 TATA IPL Auction, he adds both firepower and balance to the lineup.
Mhatre, who was drafted mid-season by MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, has impressed with 206 runs in six matches at an average of 34.33. His standout performance came against RCB, where he smashed a fiery 94 off just 48 balls, and his tally includes 28 fours and eight sixes.
