Investigation Into Pastor Azzaman's Death

Pastor David Ayuba Azzaman, a prominent, fiery, and outspoken preacher and Assistant General Overseer of Kings Worship Chapel And Ministry in Kaduna, tragically lost his life in a fatal road accident on Saturday, May 24, 2025. His death has sent shockwaves through the Christian community and beyond, leading to an outpouring of tributes and reflections on his impactful life and ministry.
The accident occurred near Idon, along the Kachia-Kaduna Highway in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Pastor Azzaman was returning to Kaduna with his team after concluding a powerful crusade in Makurdi, Benue State. He was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, not driving. According to a statement from Dr. Sam Magai Albert, General Overseer of Kings Worship Chapel And Ministry, and corroborated by eyewitness accounts like that of Bahago Sam who visited the scene, a golf car traveling in the opposite direction swerved suddenly to avoid a pothole, leaving its lane and ramming into the side of the car where Rev. Azzaman was seated. The impact forced their vehicle off the road, where it collided with a tree. The driver of the golf car reportedly escaped unhurt.
Following the collision, the occupants of Pastor Azzaman's vehicle were rushed to Idon Rural Hospital. Tragically, Pastor Azzaman was pronounced dead by the attending physician, Dr. Uzomah Charles, at 2:56 p.m. on the same day. The medical report indicated he sustained multiple fractures to his legs and other critical injuries. The two other members of his ministry team who were seated in the back of the vehicle were treated for their injuries and subsequently discharged.
Even in his final moments and amidst excruciating pain, Pastor Azzaman's selflessness was evident. Survivors reported that his primary concern was for the wellbeing of his team members. Once assured of their safety, he began to softly sing the Hausa hymn, ‘Watarana, watarana…’, a solemn declaration of readiness to meet his Maker. As the medical team worked to revive him, he reportedly whispered, ‘Let me rest… I just want to rest,’ before passing away peacefully.
The news of Pastor Azzaman's death prompted an immediate and widespread response, with many taking to social media to express their grief. A video of the late clergyman narrating a scary dream he had about a Christian program in a stadium and a demonic laugh resurfaced, leading many to believe he might have foreseen his death. In the dream, he described a large gathering and a feeling of unease, which some followers now interpret as a premonition.
Further adding to the sense of foreboding, other accounts emerged. One pastor shared that God had instructed him shortly before Azzaman's death to tell him he was doing a great job and that his rewards would be massive. Additionally, a Facebook user named Juboil Nick made public a recent chat with Pastor Azzaman, where the preacher expressed concern and alluded to a non-physical 'fight,' stating that Azzaman knew the struggle was not merely physical and that God had 'called him' to rest.
Tributes have continued to pour in for Pastor Azzaman, remembering him as a fearless preacher, a 'God's general,' a voice for the voiceless, and a man of great faith, compassion, and humility. Many, like Evangelist Emeka Francis, recounted personal encounters that highlighted Azzaman's humility and the profound impact of his ministry, noting that heaven gained a faithful servant while the earth lost a powerful voice. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) also mourned his passing.
To address circulating rumors and misrepresentations regarding the circumstances of his death, Dr. Sam Magai Albert issued a statement providing a factual account. He described Pastor Azzaman as a younger brother, a dependable ally, a fearless preacher, and a relentless worker in the Lord’s vineyard, stating, 'He was the best of the best.' The church emphasized that while their hearts are heavy, they take solace in the belief that Rev. Azzaman rests in the eternal embrace of Christ.
The church announced that burial arrangements would be shared soon and requested prayers for Pastor Azzaman's wife, children, extended family, and the entire church community during this period of profound sorrow. His legacy as a courageous and dedicated servant of God continues to inspire many.
