INTERVIEW: Pop-punk Disruptors Neutral Snap

Published 17 hours ago4 minute read

Hi everyone! I’m Dan and I’m on the bass! What’s good y’all! I’m PJ and I smack the drums! My name is JP and I play guitar. I’m Josh and I sing and play ukulele!

This song came straight off the dome for us at Tom Denney’s home studio in Ocala, FL. When we showed up he had some basic riffs he was tinkering with and our combined creativity skyrocketed from there. We had the entire song pretty much written and fleshed out in about 5 hours or so.

We teamed up with Rob Freeman (Hidden in Plain View) at Audio Pilot Studios in New Jersey and really brought this song and the rest of the EP to life! Rob did a really great job of coaching us through the production process. He gave us space to push our creative boundaries, and also helped us pull back and stay on track lol! When recording, there was a lot of communication, and a lot of shared ideas going back and forth! He’s honestly so fun to work with.

Danny ACOG has a sound that we’ve grown into and developed through 10+ years of writing music. The incredibly catchy chorus keeps you in and we then hit you with a bridge that kicks ass. I really think Danny ACOG, and the rest of the coming EP, capture our personality and our unique interests in pop punk perfectly.

Thank you so much! We are very excited to get the video and new music out! But to answer your question, I feel like we were very involved! Bouncing ideas back and forth between the editor and us was very easy. We all were on the same page to make sure the video felt exciting and almost comical, just how you should feel at our live shows!

The band was involved heavily since it showcases all of us and the energy we bring when we play music live! Our homie Mackenzie Andrews took all the film content she got of us over the years and mashed it up into an energetic masterpiece. She also asked us for some creative freedom to make the subplot with her grandpa about him reminiscing of when he used to play in a band years ago. The nostalgia factor definitely hit all of us in the feels when we saw it and we immediately fell in love.

We are going to be playing sporadically throughout the summer, including some local shows in the southern Louisiana area as well as a few touring dates. We are also gonna be spending a lot of time locking in on more video content to have so when we do start touring heavily, we will have a nice cache of videos to post while we are busy.

Oh, absolutely! This is a snap summer! We are releasing more music, posting more content, and some really great music videos. We’ve been gearing up for this release for a good bit now, and we are SO excited to show everyone what we’ve been working on!

Danny ACOG is similar in that the structure, feeling, catchiness, and breakdowns are still there. Our songs have always had the same “feeling” but we haven’t captured it as purely as we have until we got to Danny ACOG. This new single is our most polished work yet.

Being from New Orleans has influenced us a great deal when it comes to our energy and musicianship. We are part of such a diverse and vibrant music culture where we see unbelievably talented musicians playing on every corner in the city. Having dedicated our early lives to learning our instruments, we pride ourselves on being masters of our craft and putting all of our energy into the music we play.

I am so incredibly excited to finally be releasing all of our hard work to the world, I think that this is just going to be the start of something huge.
