IndiGo has announced the launch of direct flights from Hindon airport in Uttar Pradesh, marking its second operational base in the National Capital Region (NCR) after Delhi. Starting July 20, the airline will operate over 70 weekly departures from Hindon to eight Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, and Varanasi.

This development makes Hindon IndiGo’s 93rd domestic and 136th overall destination. The move is intended to improve regional connectivity and offer greater convenience to residents of Ghaziabad, East Delhi, and parts of western Uttar Pradesh. These areas, which previously relied heavily on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, will now have faster access to key business and cultural hubs.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, said, “We are pleased to announce seamless connections from yet another Domestic airport – Hindon, in the National Capital Region. Our expansion into Hindon is a strategic move offering an additional gateway for millions in the wider catchment area. With over 70 weekly departures to eight key cities, our endeavour is to increase travel convenience, drive business mobility and foster economic growth.”

Hindon is located in Ghaziabad, a fast-developing district within NCR known for its industrial estates, growing residential zones and strategic proximity to Noida and East Delhi. The airport’s transformation into a commercial hub aligns with the broader development of regional aviation infrastructure across India.

The launch is also expected to bolster connectivity for businesses, students, and tourists alike, while reducing pressure on Delhi airport’s growing traffic. With the Hindon Air Force Station in the vicinity, the airport holds strategic significance as well.

As India’s aviation sector expands to include more secondary airports, initiatives like these signal a shift toward decentralised, accessible air travel in urban clusters like NCR.
