Indore: The Indore Development Authority (IDA) changed its plan to develop two full-length hockey and football grounds on its land near World Cup Square. Instead, it will now develop lawn tennis, badminton, and basketball courts. "The land available next to the International Swimming Pool near World Cup Square is not sufficient to meet the standard needed for full-length hockey and football grounds," IDA CEO RP Ahirwar said. He added that the authority decided not to change its plan to use the land for sports facilities only, but is now contemplating replacing the earlier plan by introducing lawn tennis, badminton, and basketball courts there. "We are contemplating developing four courts of lawn tennis, as many courts of badminton, and a court of basketball on the said land," he said. He added that there will also be a provision to use an empty space on the land as a half court for hockey or football. "We talked to the hockey association, and they informed us about the need for land for practice. The half court of hockey will fulfil the same," he said, adding that tenders will be invited to develop the proposed sports facilities.

"Presently, some sports facilities, including pickleball, are being operated in the space available under the Pipliyahana flyover," he said.
