India as a Global AI Talent Hub at GITEX Africa 2025

India has firmly established itself as a pivotal global hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI) talent, a testament to the Indian government and industry's combined dedication to cultivating an environment that champions AI adoption. This was the central message conveyed by Jayant Chaudhary, the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge), during his address at the GITEX Africa 2025 tech summit in Marrakesh.

Addressing an audience of global policymakers, innovators, and thought leaders at Africa's premier technology and startup event, Chaudhary underscored how India's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) has revolutionized various sectors. He highlighted the transformative impact of digital identity (Aadhaar), digital payments (UPI), e-commerce (ONDC), and healthcare, all underpinned by the nation's robust digital framework.

"We are increasingly integrating advanced technologies – AI, cybersecurity, fintech, and digital infrastructure – into our skilling ecosystem," Chaudhary stated. He emphasized the remarkable success of the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), a digital public infrastructure designed for the skilling ecosystem, which has already onboarded over one crore users in just one and a half years. The minister pointed out the significant opportunities for collaboration with African nations in the realms of technology and skilling, suggesting potential avenues for mutual growth and development.

The three-day summit served as a platform for global stakeholders to converge, discuss, and strategize on achieving equitable digital growth and fostering cross-border cooperation. Chaudhary reiterated India's leading role in digitalization, asserting, "With our open-source DPI systems, India can help accelerate the pace of digitalisation in other developing nations through collaboration and knowledge sharing." This highlights India's commitment to assisting other nations in their digital transformation journeys.

On the sidelines of the summit, Minister Chaudhary engaged in bilateral discussions centered on leveraging synergies in AI, capacity-building, and public-good technology. He shared India's experiences and insights into building inclusive, scalable digital solutions, signaling New Delhi's dedication to supporting global partners in driving innovation and inclusive development.

According to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, these discussions broadly covered exploring synergies in AI, research, and capacity building. Chaudhary also shared insights on how DPI can act as a catalyst for inclusion, innovation, and equitable growth, and presented India's experience in building scalable, inclusive technology for the public good.

The minister's participation in GITEX Africa 2025 underscores India's proactive approach to fostering international collaborations in technology and skill development, particularly with African nations. By sharing its expertise and infrastructure, India aims to contribute to the inclusive and equitable growth of the global digital economy.
