IMD issues yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms in Delhi; heavy rainfall likely in Northeast states | India News - News9live
Since the first week of June, rainfall continued across many parts of the country.
New Delhi: The weather in Delhi has become humid as June began with rain and thunderstorms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi for the next two days, warning of possible rain and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s temperature is also going down. The maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could be around 25 degrees Celsius.
Since the first week of June, rainfall continued across many parts of the country. From the plains to the hills, several regions experienced regular showers. The IMD predicted rain in most parts of Northeast India for this entire week. Very heavy rainfall is likely on Wednesday in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
Rain and strong winds are also expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.
On June 4, light to moderate rainfall may also occur in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. In Himachal Pradesh, there is also a chance of hailstorm during this period. A dust storm may hit some areas of western Rajasthan on June 4.
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also expected to receive heavy rain for the next seven days. Between June 4 and 7, thunderstorms are likely in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
On June 4, rain alerts were also issued for Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Karnataka. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may experience strong winds in the next 24 hours.
In the next two days, the maximum temperature in Northwest India is expected to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. However, after that, it may rise by 4 to 5 degrees over the following five days. In East India, the maximum temperature is expected to gradually increase by 2 to 3 degrees in the next two days. No major temperature changes are expected in the rest of the country.
Heatwave conditions are likely to continue in Odisha and West Bengal from June 4 to 6. Hot and humid weather will continue in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu during this period. Meanwhile, dry weather is expected in many parts of Jammu, Kashmir, Goa, Karnataka, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal.
