I didn't visit Tinubu for personal gain - Bakare
By John Ogunsemore
Bakare visited the president at his Lagos residence on June 4.
Shedding light on the visit during a recent sermon, the cleric debunked insinuations it was to seek personal favours from the president.
He maintained that he has never sought personal favours from the government.
Bakare said, “Some people still think he has gone there to settle himself. In what way have I settled myself before? What they gave me, I returned. What am I looking for?”
Following last week’s visit, Bakare had told journalists that his discussion with the president centred on Nigeria’s development.
“It’s not about just reservations. It’s about how the country will go well. My personal vision is to see a nation that works in my lifetime, and those things I’ve discussed with Mr President, they’re not hidden things, but I’ve learned that when you discuss with the person in charge, you leave it with him to do whatsoever he wills with what you have suggested,” he stated.
