Hyatt Sets Bold 2030 Goal to Increase Room Count in Africa by Fifty Percent as Part of Continental Growth Vision - Travel And Tour World
Tuesday, May 27, 2025
Hyatt has revealed plans to expand its footprint in Africa by approximately fifty percent in terms of room capacity across both established and emerging markets by the close of the decade, targeting the year 2030 for this ambitious growth.
Over the past two years, Hyatt has already experienced a remarkable surge of fifty-one percent in room inventory across the continent. This expansion was driven by the launch of several high-profile properties and new brand introductions in the region. Notable among these were the opening of Park Hyatt Marrakech, marking the entry of Hyatt’s luxury brand into Morocco; the unveiling of Hyatt Centric Cairo West, the brand’s first presence in Africa; the debut of Hyatt Regency Harare – The Meikles, representing Hyatt’s initial foray into Zimbabwe; and the inauguration of Hyatt Regency Nairobi Westlands, introducing the brand to Kenya for the first time.
In the latest development, March 2025 witnessed the launch of Hyatt Place Nairobi Westlands and Hyatt House Nairobi Westlands, strategically situated along Lower Kabete Road. This dual-branded property, the first of its kind for Hyatt in Africa, provides guests with two distinctive hospitality offerings within a single complex. The location is ideally positioned just minutes away from key attractions such as Westgate Mall, the Nairobi National Museum, and the lush Karura Forest.
“Last year marked a breakthrough year for Hyatt in Africa, and we’re just getting started,” said . “Our growth across key leisure and business hubs reflects a strategic focus on having hotels where our guests and World of Hyatt members want to travel most. As we expand, we remain committed to delivering high-quality hospitality experiences that resonate with both global travelers and local communities.”
Over the coming two years, Hyatt is preparing to expand its footprint across new destinations in the region, with several high-profile openings on the horizon. Among the most anticipated is the debut of Hyatt Regency Lagos Ikeja in Nigeria, marking a significant step into a key West African market. Later this year, Johannesburg will welcome the luxurious Park Hyatt brand as it takes over the iconic Winston Hotel, which is currently undergoing an extensive transformation. Once reopened, the reimagined property will feature thirty-one elegantly designed rooms and will cater to both corporate and leisure travelers. Guests can expect a refined atmosphere paired with discreet luxury and exceptional, attentive service designed to feel like a sophisticated retreat.
“This is an exciting chapter in the growth of Hyatt’s portfolio across Africa, as we add hotels with intent in high-demand destinations,” said “We are proud to collaborate with our trusted owners to thoughtfully introduce Hyatt’s diverse brands to both new and established markets across the region.”
Hyatt continues to strengthen its presence across Africa, with several new properties poised to join its growing regional portfolio.
