Back in 2021, the family of the celebrated author had to come out to shut down claims that were peddled surrounding his death.

Many claimed that the author had died, but his family came out to confirm that he was doing well at home.

One of his sons, Mukoma Wa Ngugi, shared that he and his dad even laughed about the rumours that he had died via their phone call.

In a different report, the renowned scholar once criticised the government after the move to deploy Kenyan police to Haiti.

The River Between author shed a tear, saying that leaders who mean well for the country do not make such moves.

He termed the deployment as a wrong move, noting how pained he was that officers were being taken to a different land for a wrong mission.
